Breakthrough armor company

Organization

The company was comprised of just four armor platoons and a command tank, as the company's support element was attached to battalion headquarters and did not travel with the company. Depending on the configuration, a breakthrough armor company numbered between twenty-one and thirty-seven tanks. A breakthrough armor company's mission profile was to penetrate enemy lines to destroy assets or seize contested zones until balanced forces could reinforce them. With no support element, the pressure on the company was considerable as supplies and parts had to be carried with the company.

A breakthrough armor company could be augmented with four additional armor platoons.
