The Beacon network was a planned galaxy-wide network of space stations, one of Supreme Chancellor Lina Soh's Great Works. The stations were intended to improve galaxy-wide communications and increase the Galactic Republic's presence in far-flung regions. The Starlight Beacon, launched in 232 BBY, was intended as the first station in the network.
