Battle of Naator

In 3 ABY, during the Galactic Civil War between the Alliance to Restore the Republic and the Galactic Empire, the Alliance's 61st Mobile Infantry led a campaign named Operation Ringbreaker. Devised by the ex-Imperial Governor Everi Chalis, the campaign's end target was the Empire's Kuat Drive Yards, the Empire's primary manufacturer and servicer of its Star Destroyers located at the planet Kuat. In order to weaken the shipyards' defenses, the 61st targeted a number of weaker Imperial installations to draw out military redeployments from Kuat. The Mid Rim Territories planet Naator was among the targets of the campaign, the world being a contributor to the Empire's war effort. The planet was listed in a report on the Operation Ringbreaker's first phase by General Crix Madine when the Rebel Alliance Intelligence Service vetted the campaign.

The 61st moved on to Naator after its attack on the agriworld Nakadia. The rebel unit fought and won against the Empire in the planet's icy mountains. Casualties were sustained between that battle and the campaign's next engagement, which took place at the astronomical object Xagobah.

While the campaign proved successful in forcing redistribution of forces from the Kuat Drive Yards, the 61st ultimately did not make it to Kuat, having given up Operation Ringbreaker after being ambushed by the Empire at the planet Sullust. The Alliance Intelligence reports on the campaign, including the one listing Naator, were eventually archived in a compilation of non-electric documents called The Rebel Files by archivist Hendri Underholt.

The battle of Naator was first mentioned in Alexander Freed's 2015 novel Battlefront: Twilight Company.
