During the First Alsakan Conflict, the first of a fourteen-millennia-long series of wars over political control of the Galactic Republic between its capital world Coruscant, the planet Alsakan, and their respective allies, space between Coruscant and Alsakan was strown with hyperspace minefields, and it was there that the Battle of Kes was fought nearly one hundred years after the commencement of the war. The battle became the only direct confrontation during the early Alsakan Conflicts between the forces of the two belligerent systems. The engagement resulted in a tactical draw, and the First Alsakan Conflict continued for more than two centuries.
