Battle of Goibniu

Gold Squadron entered the Goibniu system in Y-wing starfighters, escorted by Blue Squadron in outdated Z-95 Headhunters. Luckily, Imperial opposition came principally in the form of two squadrons of TIE/LN fighters, the basic starfighter of the Imperial Navy. Gold Squadron attempted to neutralize Goibniu Platform, an XQ2 platform, in order to allow SFNGR Group to capture and carry away Imperial bacta supplies.

The Rebels were outnumbered and outgunned, but they had an ace up their sleeve—several aces, actually, in the form of Rogue Squadron. Members of the elite group, including Rogue Leader and Rogue Two, may have intercepted Imperial TIE fighters in their A-wings if the Gold or Blue Squadron pilots engaged at Goibniu required assistance. The Imperials may have countered a Rebel advantage with Rho Squadron, an outfit of Assault Gunboats on patrol either nearby or in the farther reaches of the embattled system.

As players can participate in the mission "Raid on Goibniu Platform" in the computer game Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter on either the Rebel or the Imperial side, both sides have conflicting mission objectives, and victory is not essential to access the next set of missions, the battle itself is considered canon but the canon outcome is unknown.

The ships listed in this article are those found in the battle Operation: Clean Sweep, using the default craft assigned to the player.
