Basteel was considered not very important and had a token Empire presence. Leia Organa and her team visited this planet during Operation Yellow Moon to place a beacon and meet with Bon Yoth. Several hours after they left, the Star Destroyer Shieldmaiden arrived and sent troops into the city to arrest the locals.
In the 2018 reference book Star Wars: The Rebel Files, Basteel is misspelled as "Bastille" on page 153.
