Baron of the Empire

Baron of the Empire, also known as Baron of the Imperial Navy, Flight Baron, or simply baron, was a title given to decorated TIE fighter pilots of the Galactic Empire's military. To signify their status, they had the right to bear red markings on their otherwise all-black flight suits and helmets. Such barons included Valen Rudor, Soontir Fel, and Titan Three. The First Order later drew inspiration from the Imperial barons' flashes of red when designing the helmets of their First Order Special Forces.
