The Bakura sector was first mentioned in several Star Wars Legends literature, including Karen Traviss's 2006 novel Republic Commando: Triple Zero and The Essential Atlas Online Companion. It later appeared in the non-canon LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises episode "Poe to the Rescue," which first debuted on February 15, 2016.
C-3PO informed Poe Dameron that the Resistance Admiral Ackbar was being detained aboard a First Order Resurgent-class Star Destroyer in that sector. Using a stolen AAL-1971/9.1 Troop Transport, the Resistance managed to rescue Ackbar from captivity.
