Ryern and Aurell's propinquity varied over time, which affected Auratera's temperature. At times, the two stars appeared to be conjoined, which caused particularly bright and hot days, while at others the stars were not present in the sky at the same time. Regardless of their proximity, Aurell was always brighter than Ryern, with the latter star never being more than a third of the former's brightness.
