The Atgeir-class was famous for its shields, generated by crowns of dagger-like shield generators. The class was similar to the later Invincible-class Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser.
Too expensive to deploy strategically against cheaper and nimbler warships, these battlecruisers were used primarily for home defense and tours of victory during the early Alsakan Conflicts. These ships were built by Alsakan for the last of the Alsakan Conflicts, around 3017 BBY. The battlecruiser design inspired the Invincible-class Dreadnaught Heavy Cruiser.
