The asteroid tug tractor beam was a large, powerful tractor beam that was mounted on the hulls of starships. In 36 ABY, several Victory-class Star Destroyers, including the Admiral Ackbar, had been outfitted with these devices, which had been supplied to the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances by Tendrando Arms. These vessels were designated as pirate hunters. Several vessels utilizing these tractor beams assisted in the recapture of the Admiral Ackbar from Killik forces during the Battle of Tenupe.
The Colossus I Beta Series asteroid tug Rockhound, operated by Tendrando Arms' owner, Lando Calrissian, was equipped with many tractor beam emitters that he used to offset the gravitational pull of surrounding black holes during the joint Jedi and Sith mission into the Maw.
