Asteroid slalom

The asteroid slalom craze ended after an undetected stone mite infestation at the Orleon Belt Grand Slalom Finals resulted in several racers and their vehicles being devoured while the event was broadcast live to a horrified audience across the galaxy. As asteroid slalom bookings plummeted, Roche Machines halted production on its ski speeders and sold the remaining stock at a reduced price.

Asteroid slalom was first mentioned in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Last Jedi: Incredible Cross-Sections, which was written by Jason Fry.
