The Imperial Assault Tank, also known as the Assault tank, was used by the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War against the Alliance to Restore the Republic. At least five of the tanks were present in the Imperial facility Weapons Factory Alpha on the moon Cymoon 1 when it was attacked by Rebels. The tanks, along with a number of All Terrain Scout Transports and combat speeders attacked an All Terrain Armored Transport piloted by the rebels Han Solo and Leia Organa during the attack.
Imperial Assault Tanks resembled the Armored Assault Tank notably used by the Trade Federation and the Separatist Droid Army.
The Imperial Assault Tank first appeared in Star Wars (2015) 3, a comic book which was released in 2015, written by Jason Aaron, and illustrated by John Cassaday.
