The Artorian safe haven was a domed shelter located on the sea floor several kilometers below the surface of the Great Sea of Artorias. It was built on orders of King Caled Galfridian during the Galactic Civil War in order to provide shelter to the Artorian populace when it was rumored that the Galactic Empire would be expanding its presence into the Outer Rim. However, by the time the shelter had been finished, the civil war was over and the Empire was no longer a threat.
However, it came into use during the Yuuzhan Vong War, when after the Battle of Artorias it became the base of the Artorias resistance.
