Aristocra

The Aristocra were midlevel members of the Nine Ruling Families. They therefore formed part of the ruling class of the Chiss species in the Chiss Ascendancy. The Aristocra was also an organization within the Chiss Syndicure.

As a title, Aristocra were the lowest known political rank within a Ruling Family, below Councilor and other ranks within the Syndicure. Aristocra were charged with recruiting promising students and cadets from the various Chiss academies to join their family. Aristocra Mitth'urf'ianico described recruitment as one of the worst duties "foisted" upon midlevel officials of the family, seeing it as a "boring" waste of time.

"Aristocra" was also a less formal title for any Chiss family official at or above the rank of Aristocra proper. For example, when both men were Councilors, Mitth'urf'ianico and Irizi'stal'mustro greeted each other as "Aristocra Thurfian" and "Aristocra Zistalmu" within the March of Silence.
