Area D-502 was a quadrant of the Dantooine system, in the Outer Rim Territories.
Area D-502 was considered among the safest areas of the star system at the time of the Galactic Civil War. It served as the base of operations for both the O.S.S. D-502 Junk Guild and the Aii`tkian Anthropologists. Both the Junk Dealers and the Anthropologists were friendly groups, always willing to lend a helpful hand. The Aii`tkian scientists explored Area D-502 to collected rare starship equipment that highlighted the existence of an ancient, space-faring species.
Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, the Aii`tkian Anthropologists and the O.S.S. Junk Guild discovered a new strain of copper in the Dantooine system's Area D-502. Aii`tkian scientists then investigated whether it was worth to be used to manufacture starship parts.
A RSF Outpost was located in Area D-502.
The Area D-502 was a location in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011. Area D-502 was added to the game with the release of the expansion pack Jump to Lightspeed on October 27, 2004.
