The Apex Society was a Sith cult that was led by the Human Collan Eislo.
The Apex Society was made up mainly of bored nobles who sought to be able to use the power of the dark side of the Force, and use the knowledge of the Sith to enhance their notoriety. Some of them also believed that Collan Eislo, their leader, was guided by the spirits of deceased Sith Lords, such as Darth Revan and Darth Plagueis. Eislo believed that if he obtained the mask of the ancient Sith Lord Darth Nihilus, he would be able to use the Force, so he determined to find it and promised the members of the Apex Society that he would become their master, once he had obtained the artifact.
Eislo and the Society eventually traced the artifact to the planet Volik, and traveled there to look for it.
