Ank Ki'Shor

In the early phase of the Galactic Civil War, the Siege of Ank Ki'Shor took place at the world. Although the Galactic Empire ultimately emerged victorious in that engagement, Rebel Y-wing starfighters nevertheless defended Ank Ki'Shor's population against Imperial bombardment, saving thousands of lives by holding off the Empire's attacking TIE bomber craft.

Ank Ki'Shor was introduced via a mention of the Siege of Ank Ki'Shor in the 1996 reference book The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels by Bill Smith. The StarWars.com Databank entry for the Y-wing starfighter subsequently misspelled the name as the Siege of Ank Ki'Shar. The December 7, 2009 StarWars.com Hyperspace article "Xim Week: The History of Xim and the Tion Cluster" by Jason Fry first identified Ank Ki'Shor as a distinct world, and the August 18, 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Ank Ki'Shor system, and therefore Ank Ki'Shor itself, in grid square S-5.
