Andy Schmidt


Andy Schmidt (born August 3 in Fairmont, West Virginia, United States), also known as Peter Andrewes Schmidt, is an American author and editor. For the Star Wars franchise, he authored children's short stories in anthologies such as The Original Trilogy Stories and The Prequel Trilogy Stories.

Biography


Andy Schmidt, also known as Peter Andrewes Schmidt, was born on August 3 in Fairmont, West Virginia, United States. In adulthood, he became an author and editor. For the Star Wars franchise, he authored short stories collected in children's books. He enjoyed being able to write the stories when his children were the proper age to read them. Schmidt's first stories were "A Bad Feeling About This" and "AT-AT Attack!," adapting events from the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back respectively. Both stories were published in The Original Trilogy Stories on September 1, 2015. On December 18 of the same year, Schmidt's third story, "A Jedi, You Must Become," also adapting events from The Empire Strikes Back, was published in the anthology 5-Minute Star Wars Stories.

On September 26, 2017, The Prequel Trilogy Stories, a follow-up to The Original Trilogy Stories, was published. In the anthology, three stories by Schmidt are featured. The first story, "Short Negotiations," adapts events from the opening of the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The second story, "Ambushed!," adapts a sequence from the 2002 film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones. Schmidt's final story, "Empire Ascendant," retells scenes from the third act of the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith.
