Andris was a variant of spice that was mined on Seylott, Empress Teta and its moon Atale. It was used as food additive and preservative, but could also be used as a remedy for hibernation sickness. The smuggler Platt Okeefe recommended it as a profitable cargo for smugglers in the pirate Maz Kanata's Smuggler's Guide and warned against trafficking variants such as ryll or the strains of spice mined on Kessel.
Andris was first mentioned in the 2018 canon reference book Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, written by Daniel Wallace. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, andris was introduced in the 1998 novel Young Jedi Knights: Return to Ord Mantell, written by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta.
