The Ancients were a group which predated the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic. The group was based on Skara Nal in the Kaldar Trinary system. They created an ancient four-legged droid walker armed with a superlaser, that was eventually buried on the planet where they were based on previously. The Ancients kept Skara Nal inert by using the Heart of the Mountain, an ancient crystal. The group also created a compass to locate Skara Nal and navigate through the various booby traps in the underground tunnels leading to Skara Nal. Between 19 BBY and 18 BBY, the group was shrouded in mystery with one of their creations, Skara Nal, becoming a pirate legend.
