Akaan'gaan

Akaan'gaan was a concept in ancient Mandalorian culture. When translated from the Mandalorian language of Mando'a into Basic, the term possessed the colloquial meaning of "the search for battle." Once declared, akaan'gaan denoted an individual or group's intent to seek open conflict wherever they may find it.

During the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire, the Mandalorian warrior Mavrix Varad led his clan to break away from the Empire with whom the Mandalorian people had been aligned. Declaring akaan'gaan, Clan Varad stole a Republic Valor-class cruiser known as the Allusis, and assaulted a number of Republic and Imperial targets before they were finally neutralized in orbit over Fondor.

The concept of akaan'gaan first appeared in the BioWare-made massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, released December 20, 2011. To date, this has been the concept's only appearance.
