The Adega system first canonically appeared in a Force vision in the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, and was first identified in the Fantasy Flight Games roleplaying manual Nexus of Power. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the system first appeared in the first issue of the comic series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi — The Freedon Nadd Uprising, written by Tom Veitch, illustrated by Tony Akins, and published by Dark Horse Comics on August 2, 1994. Although that comic issue was the system's first actual appearance, it was first mentioned in For a Thousand Generations, an endnotes by Tom Veitch printed in the back of Dark Empire 4.
