An accu-accelerator was a component of a starship's ion engine. Some were scrounged by Jawa scavengers to construct their ion blasters; the components, along with a droid restraining bolt, were added to the blaster's firing mechanism.
The accu-accelerator was first mentioned in Star Wars Legends in the 1991 roleplaying supplement, Cracken's Rebel Field Guide. It was brought into canon with a mention in the 2015 reference book, Ultimate Star Wars.
