Abel LaSal was an individual who served as a commander in the Imperial Navy's officer corps. In 14 BBY, LaSal was deployed aboard the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Sovereign. While the vessel was docked at Fondor, someone stole the commander's identity by using a forged code cylinder and officer's disk.
At some point, the LaSal came to command the Star Destroyer. However, this was no longer the case by 4 BBY, when the Sovereign had become Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin's flagship, with Admiral Kassius Konstantine reassigned to become Tarkin's second-in-command aboard the starship. That year, the Star Destroyer was destroyed over the Outer Rim Territories planet Mustafar by the Spectre rebel cell.
